　Center for Renewable Energy Development, Energy Research Institution ( the Center) is subordinate to Energy Research Institution of the State Development Planning Commission (ERI). As a non-profit-making research and developing agency leaded directly by ERI, the Center’s main duty is to take part in the activities of carrying out research work on technologies and strategic policies of renewable energy and rural energy and promoting the process of commercialization of renewable energy technologies. At present , the Center has 10 formal staff and it will invite both national and international experts and scholars in the field of technologies and strategic policies research of renewable energy as its guest research workers or advisors according to the requirement of the Center. The Center is founded on the base of the Division of Rural Energy and New Energy Research of ERI and it get many supports from National departments and agencies related to the research and developing of renewable energy. The center has worked or is working on setting up a cooperated relationship with those international research agencies in the field of technologies and strategic policies research of renewable energy to work together to promote the process of the commercialization of the renewable energy technologies.

Organization Set-up of the Center

　The Center sets up 1 director and 2 deputy directors and 1 principal economist at its headquarter. It is made up of Director Office, Department of Policy Research, Department of International Cooperation and Department of Technologies and Market Developing. At the same time, the Center will set up several subsections in related provinces when needed to provide them the chance to take part directly in the activities of the commercialization of the renewable energy technologies.

　Director Office’s duty is helping the director to be in charge of the organization and management of the Center daily affairs, working out work plans, supervising projects’ operational aspects and managing projects’ financial affairs and their technologies achieves.

　Department of Policy Research is mainly engaged in strategic policy research of renewable energy and rural technologies, especially strategic policy research related to the commercialization of the renewable energy technologies, to help the nation’s government to establish technology policy of renewable energy and rural energy and that of commercialization.

　Department of Technology and Market Developing are mainly responsible for the development, application and dissemination of renewable energy and rural energy technologies, providing technological assistance for the commercialization of the renewable energy and rural energy technologies and giving technological consulting service for international renewable energy technologies coming into China market as well as Chinese technologies to international markets.

　Department of International Cooperation is mainly responsible for International cooperation activities related to technologies and strategic policies research of renewable energy and international trade service activities related to the transferring of the renewable energy technologies.

　Advisor Consulting Group: The member of the Group, who come from national government in charge or who are Chinese or international experts or enterprises in the field of renewable energy will be invited by the director after consulting with relates quarters. Advisor Consulting Group is responsible for strategic direction for the Centers professional work and the Centers chief expert will act as the Group leader.

Principal Objectives of the Center

　The main purpose of the Center is accelerating the development of commercialization of the renewable energy technologies. Main tasks are as follows:

Carrying out research work on strategic policies for industry development and commercialization of renewable energy and rural energy technologies, analyzing the obstruct in the market development of renewable energy and exploring approach to overcome these obstruct;
Undertaking necessary agency construction and training which will helpful for the marketing of renewable energy and rural energy and acting as the medium to unite local research agencies to work together for the enterprises;
As the information center of renewable energy, disseminating information of commercialization development of renewable energy, seeking investment opportunities, importing technology and offering technological consulting services and working for national and international agencies and enterprises related to renewable energy;
Assisting the national standard departments and relevant agencies to formulate standard of developing renewable energy, and entrusted by the national departments in charge, offering service related to industry development and commercialization of renewable energy such as products’ quality determination;
Carrying on national and international exchange of technology research and development of renewable energy and publicizing technology development of renewable energy.
